About the author

Early life and calling
Chris Carter was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 1973 and grew up as the son of an evangelical Christian minister, nurtured in a home where love for God and lived-out faith were a daily reality. He spent most of his formative years in northeast Mississippi, where the Lord steadily confirmed his call to Christian ministry and to teaching the Scriptures in a way that touches everyday life and relationships.
Shaped by family and education
During his undergraduate years at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Chris lived with his maternal grandparents, an experience that deeply shaped his appreciation for inter‑age relationships and the beauty and challenges of walking closely with the elderly. Those years included a tender season of caring for his grandfather through Alzheimer’s disease and its complications, giving Chris a firsthand understanding of suffering, dignity, and hope at the end of life. He went on to study Pastoral Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (New Orleans, LA) and Theology/Pulpit Communication at Trinity College and Theological Seminary (Newburgh, IN), further grounding his pastoral heart in solid biblical and theological training.
pastor and workplace leader
Since October 1999, Chris has served as a Senior Pastor in Mississippi churches, in both fully supported and bivocational roles, and he currently shepherds a congregation in Tupelo, Mississippi. Alongside his pastoral ministry, he serves as Logistics Manager of Safety and Compliance in the logistics division of a Christian, family‑owned building-products manufacturer, where faith, integrity, and leadership development are central to his daily work. In both pulpit and workplace, Chris seeks to help believers integrate the truth of Scripture into real-life relationships with God, family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors.
Heart for gospel-shaped relationships
A central conviction in Chris’s ministry is that the gospel of Jesus Christ is meant to be lived out in every relationship, not just affirmed in church on Sundays. One of his greatest joys is seeing people glorify God by accurately reflecting the character, grace, mercy, love, and holiness of God and the Savior, Jesus Christ in the way they speak, forgive, serve, and persevere with others. His writing and teaching—including his work on grace‑filled, Christ‑centered relationships—flow out of more than three decades of marriage and ministry and a desire to see the people of God grow into Christlike maturity together.
family and everyday life
Chris has been married to his wife, Denise, since July 2, 1991, and their home is a living laboratory of God’s grace in everyday relationships. They are the parents of two married adult children, the delighted grandparents of a recently born grandson, and foster parents to two daughters who, at the time of this writing, have been part of their family for several months. Whether in the church, the workplace, or at his own dinner table, Chris seeks to live and lead so that Christ’s kingdom is seen clearly in ordinary, faithful, Spirit‑empowered love.
